Question about traffic light cameras? ?

Yesterday (Sunday) at around 5.30 (it was dark) I accidentally crossed a red light at a T junction but stopped right after the light before joining the other road. So I didn't obstruct any traffic. I then left when the light infront of me turned green.

I don't think I saw a flash and I don't know whether there actually is a camera or not

How will I know whether there was a camera? I can go back and check.

I understand what I done was irresponsible but it was an accident and it's happened now, nothing I can do!

PS I'm in the UK and I'm a very new driver.

So how do I know if there's a camera?

Thanks.Question about traffic light cameras? ?
only way your finding out if it had a camera in is when nthey come and take your licence away
A lot of traffic lights have a camera on the top, but not many actually have any film in them. It's a bit like Russian Roulette. The only way you'll find out if the camera was actually working is to wait and see if you get a ticket.

The law on traffic lights is straightforward. There's a white line across the road. If you cross it when there's a red (or red and amber) light showing, you're committing an offence.Question about traffic light cameras? ?
Red light cameras generally don't flash, so that tells you nothing. You could go back to check if there's a camera on the light (they usually look like a smaller-sized speed camera), but knowing that won't change anything either way, so you're as well just waiting a week or 2 to see if you get a ticket. Accidents happen tho - it's not the end of the world. Maybe try staying *behind* the line in future, tho! ;]
What you did was NOT an accident, it was blatant bad driving, and I hope there was a camera. In future, keep you eyes on the road.Question about traffic light cameras? ?
You will know if there was a camera if you get a ticket in the post. Otherwise go on with your life.
wait for the ticket then tell it to the judge
