In theory, it sounds like a great idea. But in practicality, they are dangerous. I just spent 3 months in an area of Florida that has traffic cameras at many intersections. I personally saw numerous situations where people came up to a light as it was changing and they stomped on their brakes because they were afraid of being ticketed by a camera (whether one was there or not). Rear end collisions and other dangerous scenarios where commonplace. Going through on a yellow would have often been the SAFER option.Tea Partiers, how do you feel about traffic cameras?
I am not a tea partier, but I don't agree with traffic cameras. I haven't had an accident in 20+ years, but I fear those cameras will cause an accident. I am an extremely careful driver, but now I am forced to slam on the brake for fear of the light. I don't want a huge ticket for being a half second too late.
We're told by politicians we need to pay more in taxes to pay for them, because they'll reduce the number of car accidents due to speeding.
In reality, if the traffic light doesn't bring in a steady stream of revenue (tickets) they'll more it to another intersection.
It's a scam, under the guise of protecting us.Tea Partiers, how do you feel about traffic cameras?
You mean the ones that catch people running red lights? I think it's good considering the number of accidents and deaths related to people running lights. They are also on public property, so no privacy rights are being invaded. No different than cameras in parking lots or malls.
Look at all these people saying it violates their privacy. How? They are in a car on a public street.
The "invasion of privacy" arguments are lame. You are on a public road which you share with all of the other drivers.
Which would you rather have - a traffic cop at every intersection or a camera - and which would you rather pay for?Tea Partiers, how do you feel about traffic cameras?
Confused as to why you only want the opinion from T.E.A. Party Patriots.
To answer the question, I think they are just fine. Decreases the need for traffic cops. A good way to keep an eye on public areas, at a much lower cost to the tax payer.
traffic cameras are an invasion of my privacy. They are just money grabs by local government. Houston voted to have them removed.
I feel that if you don't want a ticket, don't speed and don't run red lights.
They save lives because people drive like crap. I prefer the old days when you would just follow them home and beat them in their driveway for nearly killing you by running that red light.
As an Independent, who cares about them? I sure as hell don't and I've had two tickets from them!
Invasion of privacy.
Hate them.
they exist
Invasion of privacy. Unconstitutional, totally.
Our government should not be able to take any pictures of us that they may use to cause harm to us without a written permission slip.
You notice how many on here cite "safety" as a good reason.
That is how we lose our rights, by citing the fear factor as a good reason too.
Those willing to give up a little liberty for a little security deserve neither security nor liberty.
- Benjamin Franklin
they are tea baggers not tea partiers.... they hate everything they hate me, they hate you, they hate their own kids, but most of all they hate america.
Well, since studies have shown that traffic cameras tend to cause accidents, I do not agree with them.
