Hi All
I'm worrying as i passed through a traffic light this evening were there's a traffic camera i'm very sure when i passed over the light it was on Amber as i remember i kept looking at it whilst i crossed over.
The camera was situated further down on my right as it was a big junction so the camera wasn't next to me.
I already have three points on my licence and i have been caught on this camera last month were i have photographic evidence of my back tyres on the white line with the light being on red, and i'm not sure if it was Amber when i initially crossed over the white line and then changed as my back tyres hit the line. I'm currently waiting for a response from the police as i have queried this with them, so this is why i am extra worried as if this is the case i will then have 9 points!
Sorry if i have rambled on. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.Traffic light Cameras?
Don't go through amber lights and it won't happen.
Hey, heres some advice. Go to court and challenge the ticket. There are some states that have to dismiss the ticket if you challenge it. The reason would be that the camera doesn't show the driver just the plates. They can't prove you was driving.
Think about this scenario. If a real cop pulled you over, it wouldn't be fair for him to give the ticket to your passenger, right? Same principle. You can't give a moving violation to a person if they wasn't driving. So I'd try to contest it on that basis, depending on your state, they might just throw it out.Traffic light Cameras?
To get this right for you, after the light goes to red there is a momentary delay to allow vehicles already in the junction to clear it. After that delay the camera is enabled and will nail anyone crossing the line thereafter. If you crossed on amber, apart from being daft, you are unlikely to have been caught by the camera.
There's no point in worrying about challenging the ticket, you haven't got one - yet.
you always run the risk of hitting the light red if you go through it yellow. That is the whole point of the yellow light, to warn you that the light is going to turn red.
Why would you take such a chance when you are already worried about those points that are already against your license?
You have to wait and see if they send you a ticket. It is still at the discression of the city whether to cite you or not.Traffic light Cameras?
If it was a speed camera it wouldn't capta this , the only way to be caught skipping lights is by the eye only and the camera that you find on top of some traffic lights is for areas that don't have much traffic , so when car approach the light they will change green , so you should be fine as long as you wasn't speeding .
it all a waiting game till you get the ticket man... if it never comes, then so be it... If it does then deal with it then.
If your having trouble with the light perhaps you should consider taking another route or just play safe and stay behind the white line or only go when it's green.
These tickets are hard to beat. Case law across the country have always ruled in favor of the physics and the evidence. If you were in the intersection when the light turned red then you are in violation. Good luck.
Traffic cameras are illegal here in Michigan. So we don't worry about the cameras. However, if I were you I'd watch those lights also how do they know it is you driving? Did you see a flash? If not you are ok. Good luck.
It doesn't take the picture until the light has gone red, so if you are sure the light was still showing amber, then you should be okay.
Did you see a bright flash when you crossed? Why not better your driving skills, especially where they've caught you BEFORE!!!
it's a waiting game , look out for the postman.
The intersection boundary is defined as a line drawn along the lateral curbs of the intersecting street on your side of the intersection. It is not the white pavement markings on the street (stop bar and crosswalk). These pavement markings are always BEFORE the intersection boundary.
There is aproximately a 1.5 sec delay after the light turns red before a red light runner is detected. Red light cameras trigger on the initial crossing of the car across the sensor about 1.5 secs after the light turns red. So you have about 4.0 secs of yellow (depending upon speed limit and intersection width) + 1.5 secs of red. If you're going too fast, you won't be able to stop when the light turns yellow.
If the sensor was located closer to the stop bar, you would not have enough distance to stop even at the speed limit before you'd be detected. Increasing the yellow time to an unreasonable length would increase the ambiguity of "do I have enough time to make it to the intersection or not?" More high speed collisions would occur as people try to 'beat the yellow' and misjudge the time.
So, the answer to your question is, don't use the pavement markings to determine if you've violated the red light. It's the intersection boundary.
In UK:
If Amber, you must stop unless to do so would be dangerous.
An amber light is lit for 2 seconds, which at 30mph is around 90 feet of distance covered over that time.
The Gasto red light camera works on a trigger embedded into the ground, sometimes with a RADAR device built into the camera to also detect speed.
If Red, MUST stop.... no leeway.
If no ticket within 14 days, no chance of ticket.
If you know the camera is there, why do you keep doing this ? You need to be more careful, or you will get banned very soon. The cameras are obvious, Brightly coloured police cars and officers are obvious so there is no excuse. You are just blatantly not paying attention to the road... which is dangerous.
Badboyr125 - You're talking blx, and if you're a Police Officer - Ill eat my own head. Speed and red light cameras are two different devices.
