Do traffic lights in England have ANPR cameras on them?

(Automatic number plate recognition)

If not, where are they usually sighted?

I'm from the South.Do traffic lights in England have ANPR cameras on them?
Some traffic lights will have ANPR and other cameras and there are many fixed ANPR camera sites around the country as well the ones fitted to Police Cars.

The locations are restricted and not disclosable to the public. They are not always obvious.
Not usually on traffic lights.

Many different sites are used to strategically catch/monitor the movements of vehicles known to be involved in crime or ones not taxed/insured.MOTed.

They cover most major motorways and A roads now. More and more Ploice cars are being fitted with them and have been for a few years now.

The DVLA also have vehicles so equipped and many fuel stations and service areas have them.Do traffic lights in England have ANPR cameras on them?
Not many (the cameras there are just for traffic control), but there are a LOT of speed cameras which do have them. The road system is very high-tech and even if you're nowhere near a police car, they can detect you with loads of speed cameras. You shouldn't need to worry though, the speed limits are quite a bit higher than the US. And if you go to London, every car leaving and entering the city centre is tracked (it's for the Congestion Charge).

Remember:

Motorway: 70MPH

Dual-carriageway: 60MPH

B-Road: 40-50MPH

Other Roads: 30-40MPH
no traffic lights are never known to have ANPR cameras on top of them

those little ones u normally see are just sensors to detect traffic flow (and safe u waiting 4 ever when theres nothing for miles coming from any other junction/s

only other cameras wd b the grey box camera to detect ppl running red lights or those tall yellow monitron alyk cameras to do detect both speed and red light offences at the same timeDo traffic lights in England have ANPR cameras on them?
Matt B is absolutely correct.

For example, around here the local authority maintains cameras for the purposes of traffic monitoring. These cameras also double-up as ANPR cameras and feed to the police.
No, they are not ANPR

The cameras you see on the lights are for car sensing - not number plate reading.

ANPR is fitted to some traffic police cars and there are some traps with a tripod mounted camera and a silver astra estate ANPRing at random sites.
Don't be mistaken. In the first place they are of course for car code reading to take your cash away and if you do not have any, be assured that they will find you and charge you a multiple amount. There is not other place in the world with so many cameras as London.

Have a safe trip!
UK traffic signals do not have any cameras on them. Some have a microwave detector on the top which you may think is a camera, it is for traffic detection to say is there any traffic aproaching.
Some traffic lights have a camera covering them for red light jumpers, they work off the timing or wires in the road. They take a picture, they process the picture and send you the fine using the reg seen in the image.
The London congestion charge zone is covered by cameras which I believe are ANPR.
Why what did you do?
