Does anybody know about traffic lights cameras ? they are small black color cameras fixed on traffic lights. What happened to day is I was driving past the traffic lights and signal was green when i was at about 15 yards behind the white line. the signal then changed so rapidly to amber and red as if it has taken it only 3-4 seconds from green to red and i could notice it on the traffic lights across the road which were intnded for the same road user where i was coming(Hope it makes sense as the lights are installed on both side of road i.e. before the white line adn across the road to ensure drivers can have the view). I was driving at about 20 m/h speed as there were some bumps on the road. Could somebody please advise whether im going to get any points or fine over this ?Traffic light cameras?
Given your speed of "20 mph" and it taking 3-4 seconds to change from green to red....
Mathematically, you had PLENTY of time to stop.
At that speed, you travel 29 feet per second. You claim you had 3-4 seconds. Which means you traveled 90-120 feet in that time. MORE than enough distance to stop. You just proved you're guilty. Good job.
You're getting a ticket, because you went through an intersection with a red light. Your argument is going to get thrown right out the window, because you were going slow enough to have stopped in time. You didn't. You get a ticket. End of story.
Edit: If any part of your car is in the intersection when the light turns red, it's running a red light. No two ways about it.
sounds to me like there was a cop / ambulance / or fire truck close by. their lights make the lights turn red fast. i wouldn't worry about it since it abnormally turned red so quickly.
for future reference, don't use a front license plate, the fine for not having one is around 70 bucks. the fine for running a red is around 1000 after insurance. and since the cameras take your front license plate, they have no idea who you are if you don't have one.Traffic light cameras?
Traffic light camera's are NEVER mounted on the lights themselves. They are mounted on poles about 10 feet back from the lights and are similar in appearance to speed cameras. They're mounted away from the light because they have to also picture the light you went through.
to get a ticket you have to cross the white line AFTER the light turns red crossing it on amber is not necessarily an offenceTraffic light cameras?
Those boxes on top of the signals are traffic sensors and do not take pictures.
A red light camera is always put before the signal so that the vehicle and the signal head will appear in the picture.
All full ambers in the UK show for 3 seconds irrespective of anything else affecting the lights.
