Traffic Light Cameras?

I accidentally ran a red light last night but I didn't get a flash from any cameras. I'm a little confused as there are two cameras on the lights I ran through:

One positioned directly on top of the lights (which I assume is for control of traffic) and another set behind the lights on the same post pointing down at the pedestrian crossing region (not sure what the function of this one is). You can see them on Google maps. Could someone enlighten me as to what these cameras actually do and if I was caught would I have been flashed?

Yes, what I did was stupid and it was a total brain-fade. I'm a fairly new but safe driver otherwise with several years no claims etc. Would really appreciate it if someone could put my mind at ease. Thanks.Traffic Light Cameras?
New but safe? I don't think so. You don't "accidentally" run a red light. It's either deliberate, or lacking in due care.

Ho can I see them on Google maps,if I don't know where to look?
You may have been lucky in that neither of the cameras may in fact have been a red-light camera.

It sounds like the "camera" pointing at the crossing region was in fact a pedestrian presence detector, like those on Puffin or Toucan crossings, where the system doesn't stop the traffic if it detects the pedestrian has, for example, already crossed on green without waiting. T'other sounds like it was simply a traffic flow monitor. Red-light cameras are usually separate devices, often of the Gatso shape we all know and love.Traffic Light Cameras?
The ones on top of traffic lights are NOT cameras - they are microwave sensors to detect the presence of vehicles and pedestrians, and operate the lights accordingly.

This is what a red light camera looks like:

A lot of voters complained and got their politicians to stop the traffic cameras. Maybe yours is already turned off. In Los Angeles I heard that they can't force you to pay your traffic fine legally when the ticket is a result of one of these cameras. You might want to fight it if you do get a ticket.Traffic Light Cameras?
Those cameras are just used for monitoring traffic, not issuing speeding tickets. Speed/red light cameras are mounted directly facing traffic with a radar antenna.
