Is it right to have traffic cameras?

Police are under the executive branch of government, and government officials were always implied to be "people."

But now we have these Orwellian crap traffic cameras, taking pictures, and sending out tickets, regardless of who might have been behind the wheel. Heck, I got a slew of tickets in the mail for a vehicle I had sold years before. Had a cop stopped that vehicle, they would have straightened that out immediately by addressing the person behind the wheel.

I ask, should we all write our congresspersons at www.congress.org and request they put a stop to these foul machines?

While I respect traffic laws and will answer to a police officer, I have a very hard time answering to a machine. Is it right to have traffic cameras?
why did you leave your license plates on the car after you sold it then?
Definately if u obey the road rules u have nothing u worry aboutIs it right to have traffic cameras?
I guess if you respect the law then this shouldn't be a problem. I can see where you would get annoyed getting tickets for a car you no longer have but...if you know longer have it, why are the plates still registered to your address? Shouldn't that vehicle have new plates by now??? Of course it should. So in reality..it is your fault that you received these tickets. Maybe you weren't behind the wheel but you didn't take the necessary actions to avoid having someone else using plates registered to you? That's how they got your address, by the plates the car had on when the camera captured the photo....when the traffic violation was occurring.
you got tickets on a vehicle you sold years ago? take your reciept of the sale to the courthouse where you pay fines and show them the date of sale and the fact you do not own the car, and have them correct their files.

As long as you are legaly right, the person who currently owns the car IS responsible.

As for cameras....I am fine with them...there are only so many officers and they can be in only so many places at one time....which for the most part is not where you or I are :o)Is it right to have traffic cameras?
How did this person get your plates? If you haven't reported these plates as stolen, then what will happen to you when they have an accident? Want to guess? If you let them use these plates, guess what, the state doesn't know this car doesn't belong to you anymore. Don't think you not responsible. You gave them the plates! As long as they have them, they can run amuk for as long as they want. These foul machines brought it to your attention that they never had the vehicle put in their name and are ruining your identity. Now, what are you going to do about it? I let a "friend" use my plates on a motorcycle he bought from me, thinking it was OK until he got it home. He was to mail me back the plates. Guess what, he was picked up drunk driving and they called me thinking the bike was stolen. The Sheriff Dept. was going to site me for letting him use the plates. He had the bill of sale to prove he just purchased the motorcycle. We all live and learn. As usual, it's the hard way. Good luck.
If traffic cameras helps stop law breakers and cut down on the number of crashes good for them.Dont break the law and drive safely would be a good thing.Dont you think?
