Is it the law to be warned about traffic/speeding cameras?

can speeding cameras be placed in a city randomly without the city notifying their drivers the cameras are up ahead? Is it the law to be warned about traffic/speeding cameras?
Yes.

You don't have to be warned; you have to drive the speed limit or less.

It depends on where you are. In Texas, the Texas Transportation Code requires that cities using red light cameras must put up signs that are visible to everyone approaching the intersection warning them that the intersection is monitored. If the city fails to maintain the required signs they MUST dismiss the ticket. End of story. I have gotten a ticket dismissed that way because the sign was not posted. If you live in a state other than Texas, I suggest researching your state's laws related to red light cameras or speaking to a lawyer in your state. Is it the law to be warned about traffic/speeding cameras?
Im pretty sure they can place em wherever they want. They'll do whatever it takes to get a few extra bucks for the cities budget.

I havent seen or heard of any law that specifys you need to be warned. Thats what the speed limit signs are for, or at least thats what they would argue if you were to get in a dispute with the city.
I hate those stupid things. But I don't think it matters because whether it's illegal or not, the city is still gonna do whatever they can to get you ticketed and get your money. Is it the law to be warned about traffic/speeding cameras?
Depends where you are.

Here in Aus they have to let drivers know if theres a speeding camera ahead, which i think is stupid because speeders can just slow down.
No there is absolutely no law that says you have to be warned about speed cameras.
Consider yourself warned, they are everywhere. Get used to it.
Government is taking cameras down
