Do traffic cameras result in a reduced police force?

I had a buddy argue that traffic cameras result in reduced police patrol and in turn reduces enforcement in drunk driving laws. Any substance to this argument?Do traffic cameras result in a reduced police force?
No, just increased fines.

No it results in more revenue for the city.Do traffic cameras result in a reduced police force?
Could be but, it's all going to depend on the aggressiveness of the jurisdiction's police department. In the city where I worked we had some traffic cameras but, still ran radar, done DUI interdiction, and patrolled just as we would without the cameras. The cameras are merely a tool to aid law enforcement and should not be used as a substitute for law enforcement.
