Do CCTV cameras near traffic liights catch people who jump red lights?

I have seen cctv cameras on poles near traffic lights that rotate 360 degrees as traffic lights change colour. They seem to rotatea few seconds after the light has changed red. Are these to catch people who have jumped a red light or are they to monitor traffic, bus lanes etc.

ThanksDo CCTV cameras near traffic liights catch people who jump red lights?
Yes they do catch red/amber light jumpers. You will also be caught if you go through green and it's not safe to do so. As the lights change be in gear ready to go BUT watch for any police vehicles/ambulances or fire engines flying through before you go. As for bus lanes, you will always see times within which you may or may not use them. Be aware of all your surroundings.
Yes I got done about ten years ago by such a camera, it was my own fault that I was baulked by the vehicle in front and when I realised what i had done I thought it was safer to carry on. The beak did not and I got three points and a fine of 拢250 incl. costs .

I did the crime so I paaaaaaaid the fineDo CCTV cameras near traffic liights catch people who jump red lights?
No. They are there to see if anything's coming. They also recognise blue lights.

But remember that jumping the lights often carries the death penalty.
no they dont cctv only does what the letters mean the only camera to date that catches you for jumping a red traffic light is called a gatso and must have a calb certificate unlike a cctv cameraDo CCTV cameras near traffic liights catch people who jump red lights?
there called " jumpers " they do catch ppl that jump red lights
all of it i would of hoped.
Usually not.

Most traffic cameras are solid mounted and are taking pictures as well as recording video. You will usually know when one snaps a picture because the flash will go off.

Fortunately they aren't a huge deal, because it doesn't go on your record, and the fines have only been like $50 when I have gotten them (twice).

Some guy in Knoxville, TN actually shot one of the cameras with a rifle (firing into a neighborhood like a genius). The funniest part is that he had never actually gotten a ticket from one.

My plan is to ride around on my motorcycle at night with a spraycan rigged to a pole long enough to reach up to the camera and black 'em out.
the answer is yes

they are mainly used to monitor traffic flow but will zoom to a point if any of the sensor strips behind the white line are tripped whilst on a red light
More likely monitoring the traffic flow, but yes, I guess you could be caught like that.
Yes, they do. CCTV cameras even catches does driver who thinks that bus lane is their on private traffic lane.

Good luck
Yes, so smile as you go through
These camera's will pick up any activity be it traffic, pedestians, as long as the camera views the activity.
