How does a Traffic Camera Work. How does it identify the vehicle which is violating the traffic rules.?

I assume you mean how does it know which vehicle is speeding if there is more than one vehicle in the intersection .

The camera DOESN`T know ! If there are two or more vehicles in a picture the camera takes , it`s not possible to know which one broke the law . In that case , the picture is destroyed and a ticket isn`t sent .........How does a Traffic Camera Work. How does it identify the vehicle which is violating the traffic rules.?
Depends on where you are and what the local or state laws are.

Some jurisdictions they only need to take a pic of the plate of an offending vehicle. The owner of the vehicle is fined, these are usually places that have passed specific civil laws or the camera systems.

Other places they take a pic of the car and the driver. Most of these the violation is a quasi (or petty) criminal violation.

Some places they videotape the whole thing, including the lights you ran so you can view your violation.

different places, different camera systems and different laws.

We are not monolithic in the US.How does a Traffic Camera Work. How does it identify the vehicle which is violating the traffic rules.?
It depends what kind of camera it is.

A red light camera goes off once the light has turned red IF a sensor is tripped to indicate that someone is running the red light. A photo is taken of the car which captures the license plate and then the system sends the registered owner of the vehicle a ticket for the infraction.

Speed cameras work on the same principle only they are triggered when someone exceeds the posted speed limit in the area of the camera. A photo is taken of the vehicle and the registered owner gets the ticket.

The law has determined that it is the ROs responsibility for his/her vehicle and they are therefore responsible for their vehicle. If you, as the RO, were not driving then you should know who was. It is your responsibility to pay the fine or get that person to pay it. That is why though you don't get any points for the infraction because they can't tell who was driving and who to apply the points to. A financial fine though is something you can get someone else to pay and if you don't know who was driving at the time then, as the owner of the vehicle, you should know and will have to pay the fine.
