City clerk told me the traffic light cameras don't work, so why would they still be up?

If they don't work. any opinions, beats meCity clerk told me the traffic light cameras don't work, so why would they still be up?
Two reasons:

1) It costs time and money to bring them down.

2) Perhaps some people will drive more carefully if they cameras are there, because they don't know they aren't functional.
"They don't work" as in they don't stop people from running red lights... this means they still earn money for the city.

"They don't work" as in they are incapable of taking pictures of perpetrators... this means they still provide some deterrent factor and are, as other posters have mentioned, the same thing as a fake camera and are worth more left in place than removed.

It depends on what exactly the city clerk means by they don't work.City clerk told me the traffic light cameras don't work, so why would they still be up?
They do work, they bring in income for the city. They also reduce accidents, although not as much as many would like.
They just haven't been removed yet.

I know Albuquerque has been going through this and many of them have been removed, but others are still in place and may or may not be in operation.City clerk told me the traffic light cameras don't work, so why would they still be up?
get that in writing
