Why is MS banning speed/traffic cameras?

Could it be that these cameras violate American鈥檚 5th, 6th, and 10th Amendment rights (per the Supreme Courts of six US states)?

Could it be they realized they're not getting enough of the profit sharing?

Could it be that one of the enactors siblings got a ticket and he/she had to pay for it?

Could it be threw studies these cameras have actually increased accidents?

No, that can be because then they would be illegal nationally?

So what is it cops why does MS, believe these should be banned? Why is MS banning speed/traffic cameras?
I would love to see these studies.

Locally a guy sued the city over a speed camera because he thought it was unfair to catch him breaking the law when there was no Police officer there. And he won.

I say a camera is as good as a police car for speeding or running a red light. And I do not see where they infringe upon any of our rights. What gives us the right to break the law?

Getting hit in the rear at a red light is so uncommon you cannot use that as an excuse against the cameras. Break the law, pay the fine. Unless maybe if you're a Liberal.

You can still contest the picture in court. Prove that the camera was wrong.....

stop light cameras are bad. They causes accidents. Since most people would run a red light to avoid someone crashing into them. If they know theres a camera in the light they just let the car crash into them and avoid a ticket. Why is MS banning speed/traffic cameras?
Red Light Cams have NOTHING to do with public safety.

In report after report.... city after city.... they are simply REVENUE GENERATORS.

Anyone who tells you they make roads "safer" should:

1. Produce some evidence

2. Stop lying to you

3. Be thrown out of public office for abusing their Oath of Office.
There are a lot of issues with speed cameras. The main issues is that in court you have the right to confront your accuser. Because no one actually witnesses the speeding or running of red lights in these cases, some courts are ruling that they are unconstitutional. That is why you get off of speeding tickets when the cop fails to show up for court. Some governments are getting around this by assessing the fine to the car and not the owner. Either way I feel they are illegal, but the money they generate is too high for most courts to rule on constitutionality. Why is MS banning speed/traffic cameras?
As a police officer, I personally do not like traffic cameras. Some states, such as Arkansas, requires that an offense occur in a police officers presence, except in certain specific incidents (accidents for example), which then allows for a person receiving a citation to confront his accuser or challenge the ticket. Which is probably why they are not in use in this state (that I know of) and other states.

I see large cities using these as a revenue source only but using the excuse of traffic safety and reduction of accidents as a reason to install cameras. I have seen times when it was more prudent to go through a light to avoid an accident (like getting hit in the rear) and if I see it, as an officer I can take that in consideration.
