Generally both. It takes your face, then the back plate on the other side of the intersection. So if it only grabbed your face, it couldn't have seen your plate. They have no idea where to send the ticket.
Did you see the flash? Many red light cameras trigger when the light is red, and any vehicle CROSSES the stop line. With that setup, your description would say you were NOT caught, because you were already in the intersection.
Of course, your jurisdiction may use different trigger conditions, so the easiest way to know is to see the flash of the camera. When does the traffic camera take the picture?
well a yellow light works like this if you are on a 25 mph zone
the yellow light stays yellow 2.5 seconds
if you are i n a 50 mph zone the yellow light stays yellow for 5 seconds
so if you were driving and you went through at the last say 2 seconds it would have been taken ..
If you were in the intersection, and the end of the crosswalk is generally the beginning of the intersection, you did not get tagged.
Most of the time, you can see the flash from the cameras if you are the subject of the enforcement. When does the traffic camera take the picture?
its not a picture its live video stream and it keeps it all in the centeral server at police station. were its saved for futor referance if ever needed. some of the real old units setup snaps pictures still but however its still all saved.
